General Post-Operative Instructions
For most periodontal treatments:
- Rest the day of your procedure
- Avoid straws, spitting, and vigorous rinsing
- Begin gentle saltwater rinses the next day
- Stick to soft foods for 24 hours
- Use only fluoride toothpaste (no whitening/tartar control)

Tooth Extraction
If you’ve had a tooth removed:
- Bite down on gauze with firm pressure for 20 minutes
- Apply ice in 20-minute intervals to reduce swelling
- Avoid spicy, crunchy, or acidic foods for at least a week
- Minor oozing is normal—use a damp tea bag if bleeding persists

Sinus Augmentation
For patients who received a sinus lift:
- Expect minor nasal discharge or bleeding for the first day
- No forceful nose blowing or straws
- Use Afrin nasal spray and other prescribed medications as directed
- Avoid hard, spicy, or seedy foods for 2 weeks
